I dropped this off on Thursday and unfortunately I wasn't able to sneak it past Simon.
He was really chuffed with the gesture and reminded of the memories from his old bike and it nearly made his eyes a bit wet!

Possibly a '97-99 custom rather than a '96? (Can't make out a frame number).
They look fine machines to me and likely better than anything you could buy today in that size.
I never used a horizontal mill in anger, only during my apprenticeship....not personally guilty but I seem to recall it was the most crashed machine in the apprentice shop!
As above, very nicely equipped and set-out workshop - is that a horizontal mill that's just creeping into shot? I take it you might be / have been a machinist by trade?
Don't get too excited - just a tidy reliable utility bike. Although as the better half has taken a keen interest I do have a little more liberty for refinements. A nice box on the back rack has been requested, possibly wooden crate style.
I think the upgrades will consist of a new chain, front tyre, grips some paint and lots of TLC - XTR, profile or Redline cranks need not apply!
