Remember the 1980's? '88 Kuwahara

Feature Bike
Here's a bit of 1988 for all you retrofiends. Members with a long memory may have seen this sweetie before. Now brought out of retirement and knocked together as a runaround for m'lady.

Not sure on the model - Cascade maybe? Anyone know of a brochure from that year? (In case you don't remember, it was a very good year: a very good year for small-town girls and soft Summer nights ....)

Needs a longer chain, the XC Compe pedals I stupidly sold, and a nice wee pump.

Nice and clean looking, looks to be in great condition too

Kuwara

It's such a nice frame, would look great woth all period top end parts! Just love lugged frames too. Real quality.

Nicest Kuwahara of them all, the Grasshopper XTR

Re: Back to the future

So, inspired by the current lugged BOTM, I thought I'd resurrect this. Back in 2012, I tarted up this old Kuwahara for my Missus to use. She didn't really use it.

But the urchin below did grow into it and has been using it for a ayear or so as his runabout.

Got a real soft spot for this one with its sloping tube and sloping lugs and nice details. Rides sweetly too - I'm told.
Now sporting a suntour group, Tabletops, bullmooses and lots of boy-bike grime.

Re:

Man I love kuwahara bikes... had a team lazerlite BMX back in the 80’s. I still have my kuwahara racing jerseys and banners. FYI, those mtb are crazy rare in the USA.

Re:

Doing a dry run in preparation for camping this weekend. Small frame and not much post means saddle bags are tricky to mount, but the bullmooseses mean lots of lashing potential up front.
