Unknown bike any ideas

I bought this bike on Gumtree last night for £5! I have not idea what it is. It has a steel frame with a very cool smoky effect on the silver, Shimano Exage 400 group set and 7 speed STi shifters with caliper brakes. The wheels run true and free and the brakes and gears work well. It looks a very sound bike. Does anyone know what it is?

That looks very similar frame wise, I'm guessing mine still has original groupset while that has been restomodded.
531 frame then, looks like I scored a real bargain.

Are you referring to the lug joining top tube and seat tube?
