For me it has to eb without a shadow of a doubt the...GT STS DH Lobo 1998
Lusted after this forever and ill never have one because i cannot afford it and the way things look never will.

Im doing some research on the Hope No2 caliper specifically for the GT(Ive a No2 with 'GT' stamped on it) but all its done is remind me how amazing it is and how little funds ive got :(

think i would have the lobo sts as its one of the bikes i havent had

and the gt c2 caliper was smaller 155 mm disc if i remember

The Lobo is the bike I wish I never had. Spent more time waiting for warranty front triangles than riding it.

Oddly enough a Manitou FS is high on my list, and is more prone to cracking than the Lobo.

Gatorfade Adroit, love the looks and the tech but even now, 20 years later and significantly better payed, well out of budget!

An original steel Rocky Mountain Thunderbolt. I saw one in an early copy of MBA in 1980-something, and it looked amazing, the first bike I'd seen with a radically sloping top tube.

Re:

An early Merlin ti would be nice. Not very ambitious and quite possible that I'll get one... just a matter of time!
