So, 26", 27.5" and 29".

Re:

At the moment I have two 26" and two 29" in the fleet and couldn't honestly pick a favourite rider.

In my opinion I think that the newer 29ers can turn just as quickly and are only beaten on acceleration by a well sorted XC race 26er.

My 29ers are more affected by crosswinds and can be harder to restart on long steep climbs after I've ahem "stopped to enjoy the view".

I seem to be able to handle downhill dropoffs more confidently with the bigger wheels though.

Sorry, I've no experience re 27.5 but hope this helps.

I bought loads of old MBUKs from Oxfam in Keswick and there was an article about how 29'ers were starting to kick off, every reviewer said they would have no future and look now. Half of those reviewers now have one  .

It's 99% down to the rider and possibly 1% down to wheel size, IMHO.
A fast rider will be fast on anything, same for a good technical rider or, in my case, a shit rider.
Whatever wheel size you use - never complain, never make excuses.....

I'm 6 3" and yet to try a 29'er. I'm content on my 26 and wouldn't change it for the world so there is no point in me changing. I have fun on my bike and that's all I can ask for...

Until you try one.

I hadn't tried v brakes until a couple of years ago. :)

Just wait until you try hydraulic disc brakes, you will be blown away.
