Fixed wheel is my preferred term as I'm fairly old, the above made me chuckle Still a thing of beauty no matter how you describe it.

Fixies have their place in this wide world of ours. I enjoyed riding one BITD. It made you more aware of what was goin' on, and boy! what stopping power. Chewed up a few tubs alright.

I don't think you can beat the feeling of being connected on a fixed wheel. Wouldn't want to ride the south downs on one though.

I ride a "fixed wheel bicycle" at least once a week, on my 40 mile round trip commute to work. Both of my bikes run a 66" gear, its good for your core and hip movement, and improves your pedaling massively
