Mayhem 2016 Thoughts
The usual suspects plus a few
Fresh faces step up, join the crew
Up on the knob the retro camp descends
We band of brothers, soldiers fare
Largely balding , grey of hair
Thicker in the middle than the ends.
The South-west team of retro men
Where retro bikes are one in ten
The sound of jumps and gently flexing metal.
Mobile homes and folding tents
Stumpy frames and Zaskar dents
And Regan EV’s constant whistling kettle.
Jericho the compact chef
With Andy high on crystal meth
“We need to cook” he orders “Yes right now!”
Gunga peas with chicken thighs
Sniffing fingers fragrant rice
The bar is raised with ‘Jack’ and half a cow.
Parents laugh and children frown
As stewards chase the scary clown
Nobby’s chopper slips but holds the pace.
Darren’s Knee and Milo’s licks
Lost souls are slow so Spreadsheet ticks
Show the boss that he will end the race.
My second lap, the first downhill
I stark to walk, I feel a chill
A purple lycra angel walks beside.
Tall and blonde and sweet and pure
She talks me down, I’m reassured
Not seen again no matter how I tried.
Another Mayhem all survived
Mikey Muz turned up for five
Next year some dryer tracks a few more downs?
Thanks to all I had a blast
I never thought my nose would last
And please don’t ever mention scary clowns.
