A nitto dirt drop or a technomic would probably be a good way to shorten the reach on that bike. Powder looks nice. I'm a big fan of those fully rigid steel mountain bikes of the late 80's and early 90's. Great all rounders.

Another option is to think about some Jones bars, Velo Orange crazy bars or maybe Albatross bars?

I quite like the look of those velo orange bars but not sure whether I'd ever use the "bullhorns" on a mtb set-up, even with a short stem.

On my next touring build I think I am just going to go for Ergo grips, possibly with the built in bar-ends.
