you should use 5/3.8 stepped ferrules on that frame

what version of fork are you looking for?

It has stepped ferrules on it...They fit perfect into the riveted bosses.

What would be the fork to use on an Off Road. Would it be the early welded version? I know the later ones had bonded dropouts etc.

Id be ecstatic if i could find a suitable set :D

Managed to find an NOS m-732 XT rear hub, 732 brake levers, Black m-730 XT chainset...

ideally you'll want to find a brazed bonty stem

and a black comp fork

I unearthed a stash of ferrules recently, where did you find yours?

bonty forks

Yep, i totally agree that a pair of the black Composite forks would look perfect on this.

The ferrules came with the frame buddy ;)

Had another ride on the Bonty yesterday, its a great bike to ride.

what length steerer do you need for the hypothetical Bonty composite forks you're looking for?

I need a 143mm steerer on the fantasy forks i can only dream of owning

I just got outbid on the brakes i was after for this..Bloody e-bay :x

Parts i need

Just got a nice text of an old Retrobike member who is sending me an anti chainsuck plate for this ;)

Unfortunately i havent ridden this since the back wheel gave up on me (shitty rear hub) I have a set of NOS Suntour hubs but cant find the correct period 32 hole rims.

But i will be getting the NOS xt stuff through soon and ill swap out parts and update this :D

Muddy and getting ridden

Been riding the Bonty lately..it now has NOS panaracer a-wall tyres, nos m-730 chainset and brake levers and better wheels.

It is certainly a razor sharp handling little bugger ;)

Piccies are off my phone and bike is kacked up..

Bonty 2012

This seems to be an ongoing project! But i keep digging it out of the garage and taking it out for a ride...on nice sunny days ;)

Quick clean and good as new! I will be changing the forks to a Bontrager fork, better headset some earlier Salsa stem decals (when i find some) then think ill be happy with the build.
