I'm about to do a bit of XTR component upgrading and will be using the opportunity to swap the cables out....I'm considering XTR or Jagwire as replacements.....but I would really like to know if I will notice the difference from a well lubed/maintained cableset....is it worth the extra expense ?

All advice gratefully received

Depends on which cables as well - I used to use Clarks (about twice as thick as normal brake cables) BITD and they were always spot on with cantis - made a big difference.

Hi eddie.....I have the same mentality for cables and living room carpets......don't go mad in terms of quality and replace regularly, xtr is great but any reasonable quality cable and outer will work fine when clean and properly set up....... :D

I agree with Feetabix , but its the seals that help keep the xtr clean and smooth that swing it for me.

I always recommend Clarks XTR 'style' cables because they're brill and dirt cheap... 8)

...but I've used the real thing on my Saracen because the colour matches the paint scheme...
