World Cup 2010 thread

Does anyone else think the ball is ruining it already?
The amount of overhit passes and making players have a first touch like a trampoline........it's like a supermarket ball circa 1980.

In 2002 I bet a friend 50 quid that the US or Australia would win the footy world cup by 2014.

Gotta agree with that. We (Australia) play Germany first up (do they even play football there?). Should be a nice warm up match, I hope we don’t embarrass them too much.

Runs for cover....

Went well for you lot tonight!

if not for a brilliant save by the same goalie who had a brilliant gaffe :x

He nearly cocked that oe up too! Should never get beaten at your near post so that was a pretty standard save for me.
This is what happens when you train with David James for too long

True, accept that your defender should never get beat that bad with the striker in front of him. I've stood in the goal, watching my defender get beat badly, with the opponent's striker coming at me full speed, and it's a gut check. It was definitely a harder save than the first one he mucked up.

Ouch!
That was a drubbing. I only watched the first half, and Australia looked lost out there.

Well I can honestly say there wasn’t one German player who looked embarrassed at their performance.

That's because they're machines! They don't do emotions :)

A lot of people surprised by a young German side. Pretty clinical despatching of a useful Australian side, against whom England could have an interesting game in the next round .....

*ie, lose on penalties........ :P

What is really P***ing me off is the background hooting and honking that the organisers are using to try and create "atmosphere".
The only time I've heard the crowd was a drunken rendition of "God save the Queen" during the England game.
I felt so proud! :P

I believe it is some type of South African horn; it's loud as hell, and capable of producing hearing loss- it's all that can be heard at these games.

Yeah, driving me mad as well. Part of the joy of football for me is the crowds reaction to incidents and general sound. All I can hear are those bloody horns!
