Do you ever wash your bikes?

No.

After a while the dried mud forms a protective layer

But seriously, I wash them if they need it to make them work better but I find better things to do than wash bikes (or cars) purely to make them look good :?

PS - If I can ride my local woods without suspension nothing at Glentress is going to scare me. When I tried suss forks on the SS the bobbing really annoyed me so I stick with the rigids. I actually find the forks on the Lloyd a bit bobby and have been after some more nice rigids to go on (I snapped some Pace RC-31's I had on it for 2 rides ).

Take the SS, I've just replaced my B/B after doing in the last one in SS tomfoolery at GT. You'll be one of at least 3 SS riders at the Tress for this meet.

Plus I regularly ride Glentress on a rigid, suspension is not needed

If I'm the only SS at Glentress on the day I'm going to feel stoopid

No chance, you'll just whip their jey-boy geared asses and impress them with your niche-core coolness, dude..
Wish I could come along........

Roof rack shenanagans meant I couldn't take either retro bike...

and then the bus load of grunters that ordered breakfast before us meant ours took 45 mins to arrive, so by the time I got to Glentress the retro bus had already left

Better luck next time

I did see the big orange Cannondale and the Rockhopper a couple of times but it was from one switchback to another on the first climb up, I think a couple of you even passed me and my mate:oops: I did say hi but it was the usual rider to rider greeting; I figured we would meet again on the trail but it didn't happen. Hindsight says I should have stopped and spoken but there never seemed a good time to ask if you were the retro guys or not (which you obviosly were). Also my group of four had become a group of two (blame the drink) so it would have been rude of me to piss him off to ride with you gents.

Excuses excuses, shame it worked out that way but there is always next time.
