When nightmares come true.

My Boulder frame arrived like that, but luckily there weren't any other parts in the box with it. Recently I bought a Chris King wheelset from a RBer (who will remain nameless) and the freehub and front axle were both poking through the box. Clearly the box was too narrow for the wheels, but some people have no common sense at all. I really feel bad for you. Hopefully you can get it all sorted somehow.

God, that's a shame.

I was trading e-mails with the seller when he had it on Craigslist, (about 3 hours from me)...was really close to making the drive, but it was a bit big for me, so I passed. Seller did seem a bit odd, but can't beleive anyone would be so daft as to ship a classic bike all they across the Atlantic without any packing materials.

I know it's too late now, but whenever I buy a bike that needs to be shipped, I send the seller a detailed, but non-pushy, e-mail laying out how to best pack it to avoid damage. Most are thankful for the tips, but a few still just throw a frame in a box and slap on an address label. Have to remeber, just because they are gold to us, doesn't mean they're not just "an old junk bicycle" to the guys who ship them.

I feel your pain.

condolences,

Steve

A few years ago I bought one of those bicycle shipping containers... Now, when I but a bike, I send them the box with instructions on packing... It is worth the extra cost of sending an empty box one way....

OK I'll try to look on the bright side for you Chris...

Its a single colour frame with only one set of decals- which hopefully can easily be copied. You're looking at £100 to get a proper job done by Argos in exactly the same colour.

Its a shame to get rid of the original paint but in this case I think you've had the decision made for you.

I can see you'd be gutted, most of the damage is NEW damage.

It looks like the frame and paintwork were pretty sound for their age.

that is shocking. sadly i dont think paypal will be much help (unless the seller really doesnt want the bike back).

if you lodge a complaint his options are partial refund (good for you) or total refund and the bike gets returned (bad for you as you'll lose the bike and pay return shipping)

that really is a sad sad sight

The seller needs adding to the BAD TRADERS list in this forum, that is a costly mistake,,,,, well thats if you can call it a mistake!!!
Iv just recieved some bits from Brooklander023 and it took me 3hrs to unpack the parts, due to so much bubble wrap and air bubble polythene bits and strong tape and super duper jiffy bags.

Gee

A sad sight.
Some people are either brainless or just complete ****s.

Hope there's no additional damage apart from the paint.
