When nightmares come true.

20:20 hindsight, I know, but it really is worth spelling things out to sellers. Worst case scenario? A decent seller thinks you're a bit patronising, which you can apologise for. Worth it for all the numpties out there without a clue...
You're definitely in need of recompense here - have you tried the shipping company?

Hardly their fault, from experience they'll ask for evidence that it was packaged appropriately.

The numpty that did that, jeez he was either slow witted or just couldn't care less!

:(

Urgh!

Is it not just common sense to put some cardboard or bubble wrap between the frame and associated items?

Duuuhhhhh

So true, even if you didn't have any care about shipping it, surely you'd want to make seperate items covered. Did he not expect them to move in transit?

What a numpty. Sorry to hear its turned up like that. I had my last frame sent only in bubble wrap and it was absolutley fine. Some of the simple things are sometimes the best, shame the seller didnt use his head.

That's brutal. I once received wheelsets where the QR skewers were poking out of the boxes. All they had to do was unscrew 2 caps, and pull them out... total laziness.

Funny how ebay has specific feedback ratings for everything BUT packaging quality.

What a mess. When I bought a mint Ritchey Commando recently the seller was like, um, should I put this in a box. I kindly instructed him to take it to his LBS and to have them pack it, adding the charger to my bill.

It's worth a try - seriously! The box is triple-walled (which is all many carriers stipulate) and has been obviously damaged in transit. The shipping company may shell out on this evidence alone...

Though any proportion of reimbursement won't cover the shock of discovering what horror lay in the box. :( It may, however, go some way to sypathetically restoring the original paint.

Gutted for you Chris  Must be something about Goats. My WTR frame was NOS and the dick of a seller hardly put any packaging in the box when sending it from the states....bars bashing against the frame, etc.

Good luck getting it sorted anyway.

You should be negotiating the cost of a respray plus a refund of that extra $50 at least.

I have rarely seen worse, and I have shipped thousands of items from the US.

Worst I had was a set of lights for my truck, sent with no packaging at all from a scrappy in Bristol to the Highlands, remarkably one had survived!

Good luck.

:)
