Wheel truing - flat aero spokes!

I needed to true a slight deflection (2mm) across 4 spokes to get the rim back into true.

It's got Sapim flat aero spokes - when trued said 4 spokes aren't at the same angle as the rest of the spokes - indeed there's a very slight 'twist' down the length of those spokes.

Just doesn't look right and therefore isn't right - bit concerned that the forces exerted may cause a failure.

Any tips on how you're supposed to do this properly so that the spokes are all orientated correctly and without the twist?

Mavic make a tool for truing the spokes on crossrides it is a plastic disk about an inch thick with cut outs to hold the spokes straight while you true the wheel, I have one for my wheels

There are proper tools for the job, like this Mavic one:

But you just need to make a block (hardwood or plastic so it doesn't mark) with a slot in it. Cut the slot with a hacksaw.
Slide the block onto the flat of the spoke up by the nipple to hold the spoke straight and not turning while you turn the nipple.

Hmmm!

I made a similar tool a couple of years ago from a 2p coin!

Got my pliers out and bent the coin at right angles then got the dremel out and cut a slot into the coin to match my aero spokes.

Cost me just 2p to make, infact I've made a few for some mates

I reckon a 50p would be better.... slightly bigger and thicker - bigger across would mean that one needs to apply less torque ( with the fingers) to hold the spoke -- and it's still only cost 50 p

the raw materials cost 2p but your working/labour time was not billed/included .....
