Wheel Building Woes - PLEASE HELP

Hi all.

My LBS has had my wheel (Sunn Rhyno Lite) and my Clim8 Rear hub for 3 weeks now.

I have been badgering the guy who kept saying he had ordered the spokes and was awaiting delivery.

Eventually he decided to tell me he took my wheel & hub to a wholesalers type place and was told that they " cant supply the correct spokes as its an oddball hub" !!

He is basically saying that because one sides diameter is larger than the other, the wheel will never true up and the hub will be off-centred!!

Now I do not know anything about wheelbuilding but it just sounds to me like he has strung me along for 3 weeks and now can't be arsed to build it.

Here is a picture of the hub..

Does anyone know any reliable wheelbuilders around Manchester PLEASE.

I would really appreciate some input on this please.

Thanks

Adam

He's talking crap. He probably just couldn't find the specifications for that hub (flange diameter etc) so he knows what spoke lengths to order. Usually on a rear hub the drive side has shorter spokes than the non drive side due to the dish. I can't seem to find the specs for that hub though so you know what lengths to order.

It's impossible to build a hub with one flange higher than the other....

...wait a minute:

If you have a set of vernier calipers, a ruler and a spoke calculator like DTs online one then you'll be fine. Never gone wrong yet. The best idea is to take it to another wheel builder who knows what the hell he's doing!

Totally agree with Pete's comment, I have built 100's of wheels over the last 20 years, only a case of measuring the hub and using a spoke length calc.

To me looks like the standard "generic" DRM revolver sizing

2.4 57.0 31.0 45.0 20.0

Give that a go...

Thanks fellas.

When I pick my bits up tomorrow, I AM going to give him some shit.

He has wasted my time & fed me bullshit for 3 weeks.

Not impressed.

Once I get my hub back. I will measure and try the calculator.

Thanks again
