I quite like the last one, plus, it has the advantage of using equal length spokes. I imagine that getting unequal length spokes for the crowsfeet patterns would be a bit of a headache!

It's safer, many modern hub flanges can't take the stresses on anything fancy
I am having a wheel built by a very good builder,he's been at it for about 40years ,i phoned him asking about these unusual lacing's ,he said that they aren't recommended for hope or king hubs ,i didnt ask him about other hubs ,as its a king thats relevant to my build

Can't go wrong with the hybrid crows foot. I built mine 18 months ago and it still runs true, that's on a daily rider too not just an ornamental...

I built mine different to your illustration though, I've got the radials running on the inside of the hub flange with the crossed dpokes on the outside.

for me to; i bought a new set of Chris King Classic hubs in red last week,..

i have asked Ernie Frieke (Bikeboosting, probably 1 of the best builder around) what pattern to use , he told me the straight 3 cross,..also because i am not a lightweight myself,...
