What suspension forks were available in 1997?

DH3 green

I have 4-6 of the green ones ... don't know exactly ..

I think I'm loosing control over my Marzocchi parts .... ;-)

I am sure the Marzocchi DH3 is a respectable fork in the context of its time and has a legit retro value. But in terms of performance it's a joke, whereas a any Bomber can shake it up in terms of feel with any modern fork. I am not trying to offend anyone, I just think it's obvious.

My current stash of forks is:

Rock Shox RS-1 (as good as dead)
Manitou 3 '94 (springs)
Marzocchi XC600 '94 (as good as new)
RockShox Quadra 21R (Indy springs and elastomers)
Manitou Pro XC '96 (springs)
RockShox Judy XC '96 (Eibach springs)
RockShox Judy XC '96 (newer internals)
Marzocchi Z2 '96
Marzocchi Mr.T '96
Marzocchi Z2 BAM '98
Marzocchi Z1 BAM '98 (needs re-haul)
RockShox Indy XC '98 (springs)
RockShox SID '98
RockShox Jett XC '99 (elastomer conversion)
RockShox Boxxer 151 '99
works Marzocchi Super T '99 (for the museum)
Marzocchi Z1 Drop Off '01
HeadShok Fatty Ultra '02
Marzocchi Z1 Wedge QR20 '04
Marzocchi 888 '04
Manitou Minute 3
Specialized E150 '98 (worst ever)
RockShox Pike 454 Dual Air '08
RockShox Boxxer R2C2 '11

Sorry for the long list. I just figured out I never put the forks I have together.

Cheers,
Mx

Will people PLEASE stop saying "ooooh I have all these forks!"

I have none and I need some!

Ooops, point taken! Sorry Rob! You're right!

Does it matter that I've had a few pints and after reading the last post, I "had to" think (and write), mostly for myself, what damn forks are around here? Guess not. I'd better go to sleep. Tomorrow is a riding day.

Bombers Z's and the MrT did not start till the 1997 model.
The year before '1996' it was DH3, Zokes of various models, XCR, XC 700 and Nitro.

I ran a mach 5 FS Ti in 97, dog b**tard pIle of crap that was, I don't think I ever got a weekend of racing out of it without a rebuild.

There is only one answer to this and that is the classic Z1. If you want to be anal get the dual tab. There's something to right about the skinny tubes of an early DMR and the fatness of the Z1.

I remember when I upgraded from a pair of RST 381s to my first pair of Z1s. I took it for its first ride around the park and looked down below the handlebars to see this HUGE polished crown and then hearing the classic bomber squelch, and thinking that I'd made it in life - at the age of 15.

Happy memories.

Other than that another fork to consider is the RST MOZO 3.5 but it ain't no thang on the Z1.

I know it's gonna be a Z1 really but I'm struggled to find a nice set someone wants to sell.

What's wrong with the chrome ones on Ebay at the moment? There's also an orange pair and a yellow pair that need the usual work.

Changing the seals and bushes is so easy and requires no specialist tools but will set you back around £60 in parts.

Good luck in your search!
