What suspension forks were available in 1997?

There were a few Z1s and Z2s around in 1997. You can identify them by (a) the date stamp 1996 on the inside above the dropouts, (b) the polished brace is solid at the top, whereas by 98 there were holes in it, (c) 97s had the original style of diisc tabs. 97 Z1s had 90mm travel, Z2s 65mm.

Do they look the same as the ones in the Kona '97 catalogue with the long dropouts ?

These are 1997 Z2s, albeit with a brace from a 1998 fork fitted. (they have a 96 date stamp)

I also have a set of 1998 Z2s. Great forks if you can find some.

I did have a set of 97 Pace RC-36 forks back in 1997 through until about 2002.
They were very stiff laterally and tracked brilliantly, but I could never get them to be as plush or responsive as Bombers.

I think you mean 100mm for the Z1 ;)

Anyway the MY97 and MY98 Z1s come up pretty often so just keep an eye out for them.

There were Judys and Indys that year, maybe some Quadras for OEM, as far as I know.

Judys and Indys came in SL, XC and C flavours, while there was a "long travel" option in the Judy DH and the DHO.

Manitou had Pro Cs, SXs, Bulge FSs, SX Tis and FS Tis and a damn rare DH fork.

Marzocchi Bombers were available as long travel Z1s, regular Z2s and more budget minded Z3s that were still excellent. A Mr T. was there too, that could be turned from double to single crown via detachable stanchions. Possibly also some redundant elastomer Zokes version.

Otherwise, there were White, Rond and Pace forks, which I know too little about and Foes, Hanebrink and Bullet Bros ZZYZX forks for us gravity suckers.

Cheers!

DH3

As far as I know the Marzocchi DH3 was build from 1996 up to 1998 - and I have some of it in green or red.
