OK, what about this kind of thing? 50mm x 63mm, so a bit short, but correct diameter I think:

Yes, 'tampon' is the French word for a bumper stopper kinda thingy.

Big news - the 50mm x 62mm bumper stopper rubber cylinder I linked to above actually WORKS on my GT LTS-5, and I can now ride it for the first time! Just put it all together, had a quick spin off road, there's a tiny bit of up and down boing at the rear, which is good enough for me. So, mid-90s elastomer bike suspension fixed for 10 euros (including postage)...Now I need some lighter tyres - it has some heavy duty wire bead 26" High Rollers chucked on there for now - and it could be used properly.
