I guess it can depend upon whats in your sandwich.
If its something and meat, for example cheese and salami, generally the most doubled up bulky bit is the middle.

Just cheese - no point.

it happens with all types no matter what, harder ingredients are fun to, cause she has to find a way to mix all elements without ruining the "harmony". Only with cheese the preparation is somehow engineered, with the cheese being cut around edges and the remains lined in some sort of grilled pattern on the top, its hilarious to watch.
