The other day whilst searching for retro bike treasures in the tip I came across and old Singer sewing machine in its hardwood case. I took it home, for the princely sum of £2 and it works perfectly - it's even electric. Now here's the great bit - it was made in 1917!

My wife is a dab-hand with sewing in fact she made her own wedding dress, so she's a happy lady. Is there a trend for RetroSEWING? Who knows? It really grates me though that somebody literally threw away a masterpiece of British engineering like that and it still worked!

Some people, eh?

I bet their is a Singer web site some where out there. Some people will chuck any thing

8) Nice find.
some of the singers are worth money but the majority arent.still if you have a home for it,then thats better than money

I've got 3 - 1 electric and 2 manual, I used to make kites. Last summer there was a Singer with table and treadle at the dump, the wife wouldn't let me take it :(

Funny thing is the table + treadle are worth 100 times what the machine is
