Unhappy Customer

Must admit that I never give people the option. If it costs more than the standard £30odd that RM will refund, I always send insured. But that is me because I can't be doing with the hassle.

In your case I reckon he chose not to take the insurance so it is his problem, assuming you packaged it reasonably which would be for him to prove otherwise.

Anyway, bike looks fine to me, only a little bump

Huntso Disagree mate

The Buyer first contacted me with this starting sentence

"I received the bike yesterday morning - great packaging, all intact thank you...."

I packed the bike well wrapped everything in bubble wrap, extra thick divider cardboard between wheels and frame, Wrapped the frame in cardboard tubing, etc. Placed in a nice stiff box, taped stapled and even tied with string.

The buyer has thrown this packaging away!!!

As I stated in my Ad that I had concern that this bike may get damaged and if the buyer wanted he could take insurance out to cover for potential damage.

I'm not unreasonable but when I've offered postal insurance and the buyer declines, where do I stand. To make any claim with Parcelforce I know I need the packaging to show them, am I still liable?

Mmmmmmm....why on earth did he lie.
Why didn't he mention the obvious damage as soon as he rec'd the bike...as we all would.
We did he make up some cock and bull about thin frame etc.
Do you think that maybe he accidentally caused the damage and now is trying to find a way out.
If he has thrown away the packaging then there is no proof that the damage was done in transit.
The bloke is a fool of the highest order.

difficult one , but if I was buyer I would ask for a partial refund or full refund and send it back .

check on parcelforce website , but there is a minimum amount which is insured . you have to pay extra for extra insurance .

Phoned eBay they agree with you Harryburgundy

But they did say that it still wouldn't stop the buyer leaving negative against me. Shit or what?

Parcelforce need the packaging, no packaging no claim

i never thought the buyer went to the shop in the first place but now there is a very visable dent i believe it even less . nobody would see a dent and say "thin" a dent that size would be seen as soon as it was taken through the door

trouble is he had stated it was packed well and he was happy with it on receipt , now a pic appears showing clear damage , no way of telling whether it was there as it was taken from the box ( he was happy at that point ) or appeared moments before the photo :?

So this is it in a nutshell.

Sold a bike for less than half of what it cost to build

Posted the bike but raised concerns and expressed that I preferred collection

Packaged the bike well, and I mean well I didn't just throw it in a box

Offered Postal Insurance to Protect the Buyer, which they declined

Posted it quickly

Bike arrives Buyer state that he is very happy with the packaging, and the bike is stunning everything is hunky dory except for a big bloody dent on the downtube!!

Buyer has thrown packaging away but wants to now send it back for a full refund. I offered £100 partial discount but declined

I now can't make a claim as I've no packaging

I'm stumped

if you dont mind the negative feedback , just tell buyer he should have paid for insurance and told you fist thing that parcel was damaged .

end off .

i'd give the refund, get the bike back strip and sell. evenb the frame will sell. you will undoubtedly get more for it all anyway, the buyer gets his money back. everyone's happy

yep id take it on the chin , feedback isnt all its cracked up to be anyway . if you want something then a couple of percent isnt going to really get you worried

i would certainly notice a dent while taking it out of the box and putting the wheels in
