Today's Ride

today's ride can be described as one of those rides that are better than no ride at all. sunny and warm (26°C) at the start, shortly after that I realised that I overdressed. halfway the sun became covered, later the rain started too. also, I felt somehow disoriented for the whole ride. but I made it home safely after 35kms. at the end of the day it was still a win! :)

Quick one-hour lunchtime 20k on my usual route on gravel roads and tracks outside town. Summer is now in full swing which means cycling along with 3 or 4 flies orbiting your head and the ever-present danger of inhaling one.

Other than that, all pretty uneventful, although signs of the council clearing the land and preparing for development continue: what was a bumpy, eroded uphill track has been graded and levelled, making it much easier to negotiate.

And then home to work via a quick stop next to the 19th Century graveyard.

After a couple a days of winds, its nice to be out again. The seasons are definitely changing now at a pace. But in the low sun, its very pretty and I do forget how lucky it is to live in a very sparsely populated part of our island.

The winds claimed a few victims..... the sign say restricted byway.....errr...yes....very 😂

Those signs always make me think of how many people have travelled these roads over the millenia....and how trivial my issues really are in the bigger scheme of things.

Have a good weekend guys and don't forget the clocks.

....18km H A R D P U S H against strong post-storm wind, middle of the cassette grind grind grind....(why is wind so much worse than a hill?)

Colder one today. 20251024_112147.webp 20251024_112055.webp 10° and cloudy, had to turn back after a minute for warmer gear. I don't have the right equipment for this temp range. Levis and flannel shirt were fine until I started huffing and puffing and then came the sweat. I guess somehow I was lucky that it started raining, at least I wasn't hot for long
