Today's Ride

visited Mom on the weekend, sad to see her ageing. although, made a family trip of it, brought bikes with us. the daughter was riding on her own, made 67 km in 3h 1m, the little powerhouse...

the kid was riding with me, much less kms, but she enjoyed her new bike, which is much more faster and has a much more acceleration than the previous one. being honest, these were times when my best effort was almost not enough to keep up with her pace...

Talk to the hand 🤣

I've been volunteering at the Boomtown music festival over the last four days, fixing up stuff that the festivalgoers have broken, shoes, tent poles airbeds, trolleys etc. It's been fun and rewarding. Today, I took my old bike along for the ride.

Is that Hortobágyi national park? East-side of Hungary?

Is that Hortobágyi national park? East-side of Hungary?

wow, almost hit that! :) middle of the plain called 'Alföld' in Hungary, at the river 'Tisza'. not far from the 'Hortobágy' and the man-made lake 'Tisza-tó'. I'm well surprised, never imagined anyone will recognise our countryside. :)

at home again. :) almost at home to be accurate, since this hill (mountain?) called 'Naszály' is not on my doorstep, it takes ~20mins to drive to the foot of it from home. in the past 15+ years, since we moved away a bit, I didn't make the effort to go back riding there, only a handful of times since I have great riding opportunities nearby. being honest, the Naszály is a bit beyond my current comfort level in many ways. it had steep, rough trails which were fun when I was younger. nowadays these trails are a bit 'groomed', but still fun. anyhow, today I was left alone since the wife and the girls were away, so I made a ride on the Naszály. I didn't managed to the top, but it was awesome, as I (almost) found all the old trails and footpaths around the 'skirt' ('skirt' is an appropriate word for the trails around a hill on the mostly same level at about half height?)

of course the path on the left was the old and the correct one to choose. :)

...with a fallen tree here and there.

the shelter was ok, but the bench is in need of repair. I suspect that the fallen tree demolished it.

TBH I do not like these rolling rocks  ...and here I was tired a bit, for what I accuse the hot temp. somewhere between 30-35°C and not my low level of fitness!

back home I chose the chicken line :D the perished part of the mountain is a surface mine of limestone, it is still running. :(
