Today's Ride

By way of contrast to all those sunny northern hemisphere rides, here we're back to wind, rain and cold, but as today's precipitation was occasional drizzle rather than full downpour, I ventured forth on the usual MTB tracks outside town. It wasn't destined to be a record-breaking event, but getting dirty on the Soma Groove was still so much better than sitting on a static trainer indoors.

The benefit of the weather was that I had the whole landscape to myself. The downside is that stopping for pics wasn't much fun and they wouldn't have looked like much anyway. Returned home after 19 soggy km feeling warmed through and a little self-satisfied. Cleaning the bike off was another story, but worth it just to have been out in the fresh air for an hour or so.

I've barely had a chance to ride lately. I've been working so much and I've developed health problems which are likely to be stress related from work (apparently stress can really f**k your body up - I need to find a new job).

Tonight I think I released all of my frustrations because I've never pushed myself that hard before. My body hates me but to feel like I have a purpose again...I will take the pain any day.

Cycling can reset the stress button and flush poisons out of your blood👌

I would feel like I was in The Flying Doctors if I were riding there, beautiful nature. (my entire childhood was watching flying doctors as it was always on when I skived, which I did most weeks)

Great photo. I know where you're coming from. Don't worry, you'll find a solution that works for you. Best wishes.

Visited a monument which reminded me of why we're not them. Couldn't get the Canadian flag to wave though, lazy bugger.

Pine forest, path covered in needles, bikes cleared little lanes, so much fun to fly through, but quite slippery if you leave the track.

20250808_090128.webp Followed a family of wild turkey, crossed paths with a couple of whitetail deer, only bothered by insects when I got really deep in the weeds. Temps were a little cool to start, but i was sweatin buckets by the time I returned, so I jumped in the river to chill out. A glorious start to a great day
