Today's Ride

Today's ride, on the other hand, was a little more interesting.

Being as I risked the commute as a shakedown ride for the RSP 550 I couldn't miss this photo opportunity.

I found the shipping container about a week ago, next to a small industrial unit, behind a row of terraced houses in the rough bit of Swinton. I went for a closer look this afternoon. It looks like it's been used as either a makeshift office, or possibly as a doss. Needless to say, I didn't hang around for long. Screenshot_20210903-201142_Gallery.jpg
I had to make a couple of last minute changes to the bike, as I couldn't get a chainline with the Sugino chainset, and there was an alarming grumble coming from the Mavic Crossride freehub.

Like a kid with a new toy, I was adamant that it was going to be today's steed.

Not as warm as yesterday. The breeze is still hanging around. About 15°c on the ride home.

Oh, and the seat creaks...

Down to the lock this morning. Few tweaks needed, as the transmission is a bugger to tune without a maintenance stand.

It's much nicer to ride off than on!

Cool morning. About 13°c. No wind. Cloudy. Screenshot_20210904-111759_Gallery.jpg

37 miles to Sandwich and back today. Warm, sunny, light breeze—near-perfect riding conditions. I replaced the stem, during the week, for one 2cm shorter and the result was more comfort and better steering.

The orchards are ready for the pickers:

Sandwich Medieval Centre 🤨: apparently, the purpose is not to teach young dwellers of Sandwich how to burn witches at the stake.

The open road; most of the ride was like this, with this much traffic:
