Today's Ride

Finally finally finally, a sunny, near-windless day! To be honest, yesterday was also beautiful but I was on an urgent deadline; today there was a chance to get out on the bike at last instead of sitting joylessly spinning on a trainer in the shed after dark.

Headed out on a gentle road route, riding the Airborne, and took it easy for about 35km and 234m climbing. Part of the ride (a Strava segment) is a mild climb up to the local pony camp, the proprietors of which have placed encouraging signs along the way. Today's performance was hardly a PR but I stopped a couple of times on the way down again to take snaps. Managed to obscure both partially with my stellar photographic skills.

Apart from those notable moments, it was a nice, peaceful spin, with treacherous hopes raised that spring may be on the way -- which means another six weeks of bitter cold and at least one extended period of miserable rain!

Yesterday once more. It's becoming a semi-regular thing, but I won't get too carried away as it's only been 3 times in as many weeks. I chose to commute again, instead of working from home. The ride is the draw...and ytf not!
A little longer this time about 19 miles, no soreness, and enjoyed every minute. Screenshot_20250808_144235_Gallery.webp Screenshot_20250808_144248_Gallery.webp Screenshot_20250808_143827_Gallery.webp

Flashback to the 5th round of the SWXC series held in June back at Wheal Velocity. The format was XCC, so 3 races over a short 6 minute course over 20-25 mins each. I really enjoyed the format, so hopefully they'll do another next year.

#notlast remained intact, pretty sure I bored you with that some pages back. Here are a few action shots ahead of round 6 on Sunday, same location but back to the usual single, longer lap and time format. They've made some new natural features which look good but it does mean more climbing o_O

Love this shot. Placed 7/10 in Masters 40 so my usual spot. I'll take a similar placing on Sunday 🙏

Trying out a new parts bin build. It's warm riding this time of year. Sunrise was 33 degrees when I left the house and 38 and rising when I got home after 25 miles. Yesterday was 48 and will be about the same today so it doesn't get a chance to cool off much at night. It does keep the traffic on the trails down so it's not all bad.
