Today's Ride

Nice to some pics of West Penwith! Best views in the world imao.

Last time I did a Nancledra to moors-in-the-middle-of-nowhere trip I vowed I'd get suspension πŸ˜…πŸš²πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ

I did, I really did.

Yesterday was, maybe, my last commute for a couple of weeks as I'm dogsitting ( I did spell that correctly?) again.

Diverted off along the Dearne and Dove canal at Swinton for a change of scene.

Couple of harey (;)) moments with some rabbits along the riverbank otherwise an uneventful ride.

About 21Β°c with a cooling south south westerly breeze. Screenshot_20210811-193353_Gallery.jpg Screenshot_20210811-193412_Gallery.jpg

Busy few days so cancelled todays plans to recuperate. However, what with the sun and warm air i decided to go out for a ride, steady easy trails, and ended up covering quite a few miles despite feeling tired, 3 1/2hr ride and managed to keep a good steady pace.

Some beautiful colours about today, not many people and a couple of stops to soak up some sun

Would probably struggle to find many people capable of building that viaduct these days!

I'll start with yesterday's ride
York to Hawes......

And to start... I'm so unfit, but I was really looking forward to this!

Usual cyclepath out of York over to boroughbridge, nice little place, grabbed a toastie ....and sausage roll for the journey then over the outskirts of Ripon towards Wath... Hoping for a pint, pub closed till 5πŸ˜” so carried on to nosterfield to another fine eatery (pub) for dinner (pint)

then onwards on a bit of the main road then into country lanes.... And then Google thew me a curveball... Sign said not suitable for motor vehicles πŸ€” ....

I can assure you that is not a manicured lawn before you!
After that episode we quickly moved onto the Yorkshire dales and all it up'n'down which was tiring on my old legs but enjoyable to the brain, so much beautiful countryside.

Weather seemed to be turning on the last 10 mile or so but a light shower was welcomed, finally hawes was within sight.

Had a cuppa (pint or two) when I got there with some friends (by myself)

Lovely adventure there man.. I'm spent after 25 miles and gasping for a pint or two. Great pictures.

Good to see so many photos of people's rides. Some great pictures!

I spent much of the day doing errands, chores and babysitting for eldest sprog, while she was lying in bed most of the day and achieved just one thing. However, that one thing was giving birth so she gets absolutely all the bragging rights!

Needless to say, riding time was limited: precisely one hour and thirty minutes max. So I decided to head to Whitstable and just go as fast as I could: 15 miles; max speed: 32.17 mph; average speed: 12.06 mph, which I thought was pretty good since four or five minutes involved picking the bike up and carrying it, first, because some traffic lights refused to turn green, and second, when getting the bike on and off the particular stretch of beach, which involved climbing steps. A fair amount of up and down hills on the way.

The only photo stop was at the beach.
