To mod a 1995/6 hei hei into the 2000 or not

Phew!
[breathes a sigh of relief].

I'm all for modifying stuff or using the parts available to you, rather than the purist/ concourse garage queen approach.

But sometimes you're just never going to get the result you want, even after throwing money at it, like getting a Ti disc tab welded on and paying out for bigger forks.

Good decision on leaving the Hei Hei alone - you'd get a better result using the cash on another project (there's ALWAYS "another project") :D

Mostly decent XC forks hover around the 4lb mark anyway. SID's tend to be about 3lb. There were the odd Marzochi forks that were SID level (sub 3lb) forks, but many were 3.5-4lb + to be honest.

The light weight of the SIDs is mainly what causes them to be more flexy than your average fork.

The Marzocchi forks were called X-Flys iIrc. Lovely forks but they needed cleaning regularly as the polished alu wasn't lacquered and would become dull if left dirty.
