tIB's Custom Pace RC300 build

Should add my crank rings weren't correctly lined up and that they now are, but aren't equally spaced apart.

I didn't think you were going to do anything until you got the spacers but it seems to be looking promissing as i hadn't thought the chain rings would be out of position but fingers crossed now the rings and mech are better aligned and shifters tweaked things should work that bit better ..

Yeah, I had a brainwave since I'm hoping to get out on it tomorrow... At worst I'll be fine for 18 gears, I'll just have to get used to hills without my granny ring!

Fingers crossed it all works out with the gears today and that includes the weather as it's pretty wet up here in the Cheshire area and 18 gears should be more than enough well in theory it is but that depends on the how steep the hills are down your way.

Why on earth did I bother with gripshift? It's shite. Really frustrating test- front ring issues seem to be semi sorted and I'm convinced will be solved when the spacers arrive. However my front shifter decided to crap out on me- rebuilt three times, end result = same issues. Gah!!!!

Sorry to see the gripshift is being such a huge pain in the butt but glad the chainrings are alot better now so fingers crossed they'll be spot on when you get the spacers ;) .

Yes i absolutely hate mucking about with gripshifts but when they work their great but when they play up you just seem to want to throw the bike hence why not many members on here use it but that doesn't mean you won't sort it out so fingers crossed you'll get the better of it ;) ..

I know what the issue is but can't seem to get it right- the clip that retains the gear isn't doing what it should be doing. Might try one final play with it tomorrow- I suppose I could take the clip from the left shifter I'm not using... It's hassle I could do without though!

Well i hope the clip from the left shifter sorts it as that seems like your best option tbh as you've tried to sort it as it is so the clip seems the best option ..

I had another bash and I'm going to cut my losses with the shifter rather than mess with a working one: I can't see how you remove the clip anyway, and even though each time I replace it to what looks like the correct position it still doesn't click in to retain. I wonder if the internal cable routing is the issue, although not enough to waste another hour or two trying to get it right. The really annoying thing is I have a perfectly good 3x9 shimano shifter setup downstairs that won't work with my sram rear mech. Oh well, I shall enjoy a ride out on the zaskar tomorrow instead while I search for a decent 9 speed sram shifter.

I very much doubt it's down to the cable routing as it can only really go one way otherwise it would just lock up or not work at all so to me it seems like a piece has broken off or just worn so just finding a decent 9 speed sram shifter is the besy option and yes enjoy the ride ..
