Saturday:

Best day of the year thus far. No question. Blue sky-er all the way. All day preparing for house viewings. Wardrobe building. Cleaning. fixing. Tidying. cleaning. Looking out of the window and heat and sun and blue and green and not grey.

Sunday:

Wet. Rain. Heavier than an hour ago. Contemplate wet chalk and roots and muddy woods. Gutted. Was denied our one day of summer yesterday and am offered this as a commiseration prize. Klein Chris appears and brings with him some wetless air. Drive. Ride. 1st mtb ride for weeks. Bikes feel small and out of proportion. Like bmx’s compared to cx bikes. And slow. So slow. Into the woods and things start to gel. Nasty sound. Look up and see Chris’s rear wheel departing rearwards and his frame slowing him down in a prolonged and intimate conversation with the path below. Re-builds hanger/ mech/ skewer configuration and head off again, somewhat wary of rear facing klein dropouts again. Ride opens out and a mojo is found. On and on, over downs and through woods. New trails, tough climbs and a big constant grin. Best ride of my life.

Monday:

Cx bike. Long. Fast. Consistent. Training. Good. Home. Pasta. Cake. Cake. Best ride of my life.

Saturday - Out on a road bike, great, found a new route, no rain, yay. Then worked on the garden.

Sunday - Same route on one of the 60's road bikes, no rain, yay. Pottered in the garage and put stuff up for sale on Ebay.

Monday - Out on the Kona, agree with Wu-Tangled, felt really slow till I got off road. Loads of puddles, got covered in mud. No rain, yay. Went to a mates house.

Tuesday - Work. Boo

I forgot my helmet on the Saturday ride, first time in ages riding without one, I felt very exposed.

Bank Holiday at home FTW.

Did a local ride in Ashton Court estate 8.30am Saturday morning, our groups 'bacon butty' ride about 4hrs of getting muddy but fun all the same, went to the Quantocks yesterday,5hrs riding, lots of climbs but some great downhill singletrack,in cleaning the 2 bikes today, all in a good weekend riding for me

Friday - Work mates leaving for Italy we send him off drunk.

Saturday- early start made late due to previous nights drinking- pack epic, pack chameleon, pack fire mountain, pick up mates and head off to New forest. Sandy, warm , sunny & muddy all the ingrediants for a fantasticly fun bounce across the forest floor. Watch stags break kona mech hanger, mad dash for spares back on the trails.

Pack bikes, head for the coast, dark, tents unpacked, BBQ lit despite wind & rain & lightening, eat meats & drink cider...sleep

4am sunday morning....thought nagging in my head.... did I lock the bikes to the car...no sleep without checking. Open tent door, horrizontal driving rain and lots of it. Tent starts to lift, pegs pulled out by the wind. unclip inner tent, scrabble around in the light of a glowstick looking for tent pegs from within the outer tent, reach out from the outer tent, temporarly secured.

Dash for car, check bike locks, rig guy ropes, return to the warm & dry & sleep.

Sunday,
Up when the rain stops, tents go down bikes go up.
Meet friends at lulworth cove. Secure bikes unhitch boat.
push boat to sea
