The rise and fall of the mighty GTO

It will be fine, 1" of weld metal holds 1 ton. If it cracks then, grind out and re-weld.
I'm not worried. Not at all. Learned my welding "skills" restoring old cars back in the 90s and they still haven't fallen apart after all these miles and years. Will take it out (the bike, not the truck) for a test ride some time next week as soon my cold has gotten better...

Get it in big ring up the Ventoux and big ring around the North Shore trails to stress test it.
Tried to put a 50 on for the test ride but it got too close to the DS chainstay on 107. Didn't want to ruin the Q and chainline by goin up to 110 or 113 so had to go back to 48. Sorry, Woz. Hope it ain't to small for you... ;)

A 50 tooth mm! i like the sound of that for my klunker when i build it 8) if i ever get well enoughthat is :( but any way a 48 seems plenty big enough for a stress test ..

Today finally managed to get it out for a real test ride, and... it's rock solid. From 25% steep climbs to out of the saddle sprints in top gear. Rock solid and better than new. Feels like a different bike.

:D :D :D :D :D

So glad to see the ride went better than expected and it probably feels better now than it did due to the frame being weak before it broke so now it will be a lot stiffer ..

Thanks Muddy and THM. It certainly does feel completely different.
Stiffer, more responsive and much nicer to ride...

:D
