The perfect "cave" advice please

OK chaps - this is serious stuff.

Up until now I have taken possession of a spare room in the house to build bikes and even store a few - True I've had some tools in the garage but most of the work has been done in the warmth of my own centrally heated "cave"

But all that is about to change - the room is to become a ground floor bedroom for our old folk and not only do all my bikes have to inhabit the outside garage, so , it seems, must I if I want to work on them.

So - what makes the perfect "cave" ? Before I embark on the "changing rooms" job on the garage - lets hear your thoughts ......

I have a sofa, arm chair and hi-fi in mine - essential to have somewhere and sit to natter/pontificate and something good to listen to. I had a smashing bit of Glen Miller on the record player last time I was in there.

music is a must. i know i will be backed up 100% on this
after that, a vice is good and a stand
somewhere comfy sounds good to
possibly a stool
put up lots of places to store things/hang frames etc.
need a work bench

Hah CAS i'm in exactly the same position! I was going to consult the retrobike middle aged man DIY massif. So far I've ran a power cable to a consumer unit, and I'm looking for a shed for all the gardening rubbish. Next part will be to insulate and heat it. I'm thinking either a nice wee wood burning stove or underfloor heating or even just a couple of greenhouse heaters. There was a thread somewhere with insulation tips too.

Electrical sockets/ power
Lights
Stereo/radio
Workbench
Chair

Some form of heating - though I need to get mine insulated to a degree to stop the heat from the 1800W oil rad passing straight through the roof!

essentials
A good solid workbench and vice.
Pillar drill
lots of sockets
good lighting
compressed air
lots of space
tea making gear
fridge for beers
lots of shelving/ storage
hooks in roof for hanging bikes
tap and big sink
old wireless (for the cricket)

Extras and desirables
bigger fridge/ double camping stove/ microwave plus room to cook something
nice countryside views- woodland and or river view (reminds you why you like bikes)
bigger stereo
paint bake box
mini shot blast cabinet
beer on draught
well oiled semi naked dancing ladies

I wish I had a garage. :(

Being single I have to make do with most of the rooms in my house. Currently have a full M900 groupset on the dining room table next to me and the laptop. Oh, and a frame in the front room.... and a Saracen project in a spare bedroom.

you will need a garage defender

beer

stereo

park workstand

big cupboard to hide those items that snuck in and the wife knows nothing about

Once all that is installed I think your old folks will be quite happy in the garage, leaving the bikes in their rightful place. Don't forget a heater though, or they might call social services.

My shed has barely enough room to stand, let alone room for a 3 piece suite.
