So they did not have spares for a model they had recently been selling, an own brand model?

Says it all really.

its all cost versus complaints. if it costs more to stock spares than refund any bikes of people who are (quite rightly) un willing to wait then big companies dont bother. bit like tyler durdens(sp) job in fight club.

What, making soap, urinating in soup?

And I think you're probably ascribing more thought or design on this. I don't think a cost vs complaint scenario has been evaluated for something like this. It's probably more endemic of a very general JIT parts stock that seems prevalent in many industries in recent years.

Somebody still makes powerspline BBs. Theres a load behind the workshop till (FSA?).

As for Halfords - we've had 3 newly bought Carerra bikes in for faults that should have been sorted during their Pre Delivery Inspection (PDI) this week alone.

The PDI is where the bike is set up ready for collection by a customer whom, for all we know, has never even ridden a bicycle before. Therefore that bike has to be perfect.

FSA are 'Powerdrive'
Different number of splines apparently.
Mmmmm standardisation.

Having read the horror stories I picked mine up boxed and built it myself.
I did have to learn about setting disc brakes up, but it wasn't rocket surgery. Plus it's knowledge that you'll use again and again.

no the insurance job, wether it was cheaper to pay off the families of those killed in accidents or recall the cars.

"Tyler" was the psychosis, the main character wasn't ever named (well apart from the shooting script, but I suspect that was more convenience).
