The HiFi chat, build and modification thread!

I’ve just inherited a pair of Celestion SL6’s from the 80s (I think?) plus AVF mounting brackets. Would there be any interest here? Would appreciate any thoughts on pricing if ok here. Best wishes, Simon

Hi @Si_33 , I hope you are well. We chatted (pm'd) about these quite a while ago and I was enthusing about them: classic, good-quality and still well-regarded speakers. There's a good condition, boxed pair at Retrotech Audio for £215, I think that's a very reasonable retail price, maybe go for £195 and take close offers?

I love the sound of good infinite-baffle (no ports) monitors such as these and would have considered them if I wasn't overrun with hifi.

Good luck,
Kevin.

I've an old (1990's) Technics separates hi-fi that I'd like to bring out of storage and put in our living room, trouble is I've long since misplaced the speakers 🫣.
We have a pretty decent Sony sound bar in the living room, so I guess I could use some kind of adapter to send music via Bluetooth to that?
Or, get some new speakers for the hi-fi ? But then if I got new speakers I'd like to be able to use Bluetooth to send music from my phone to the hi-fi, if that makes sense? (I've loads of CD's & cassettes, but sometimes you want to listen to something that's not in your collection).
Or is music over Wi-Fi a thing?
I don't know, things have moved on a hell of a lot since the 90's!

Always nice to resurrect the old hi-if- you could dig out the technics, add speakers of choice (loads on the bay, gumtree and FB) and then there ar some really good Bluetooth receivers that pair with your phone and turn the signal into something you can run into your old amplifier.

I’ve just added a Fio Bluetooth receiver on a recommendation from LGF (about 50 quid) and it is astoundingly good, especially if you run high quality output from Spotify. You can also get them much cheaper.
