TdF over the cobbles

Re:

So, decided to ride over one of my local secteurs on the way home from work. It was still pissing it down with rain, and just 1 km at grandma speed was scary enough, still can't even imagine what it would be like in a peloton going full tilt.

I also found this little fella (see photo) cowering under a tree, soaking wet and trying to escape the rain. He was crying so hard I could hear him from the other side of the road and over the traffic.

Tucked him into my jacket and road very slowly the rest of the way home. Have called him Nibbles after today's adventures. Just got to convince the Mrs to let me keep him :D

Oh definitely ,

Anyone who rides over cobbles WON'T have a cute face !

Unless we're looking at the riders in the ' a little eye candy ' thread :P

This stage did exactly what I thought it would do when I first read the route - sort out the real men. Terrific ride by Boom - and Nibali! And what about Porte and Geraint?!

Can't wait for the mountains to see who will fight back for GC.

A magic stage indeed!
I read todays interview with Merckx where he was clearly impressed with yesterdays stage over the cobbles and wished he was out there. I somehow think he might have handed them their sissy arses on a platter :)
Only kidding, though it was a classic stage I thought as they were just coming to the end and the shot of Ritchie Porte spraying a water bottle at his face to clean it was a real old school moment, could only have been better if it was black and white.
I'm not a Froome fan but do feel sorry for the guy, though I agree with a comment I heard that its the same for everyone and these roads are in France and its the tour of France not the tour of French climbs.
I also dont believe Froome or Contador would have had it all between them, I also truely do believe that while Wiggins did well on the dry cobbles, he doesn't do wet at all on any surface so I dont think he would have been in the mix yesterday. I think he's been well mistreated and disrespected by SKY.
Personally I really wish Boonan had been there, I'm sure he would have shown them how to do it :)
Also suprised Chavenel wasn't more in the mix on the front.
Anyway thats my biased opinions that I thought I would share.
The only thing I will add regards the commentary on Eurosport. That Carlton Kirby was doing my head in and even my wife asked if we could turn the volume down. The absolute bollo**s he was on about Chris Froome lasted for almost 2 days. I have not heard blatent man love like that since the days of Phil Liggett and Lance Armstrong, really the guy needs to get a grip, or maybe loosen it might be better. He was the same when cav crashed and all he could go on about was Cav on the ground and his shoulder. He said about what a great win for Kittle but with the caveat that it '' came with a man down'' It actually came with quite a few men down, most of whomm were 5 feet away from Cav, and in all the time they were focused on Cav, not once did he mention any other rider or there injuries or even comment that he hoped they were OK etc. I do realise that its a Brit centric commentary and you get that everywhere, back in OZ its a OZ centric commentary etc but Eurosport is usually far better than this sort of British man love, well I suppose its just Carlten not Shaun. Its the reason I got satellite a good few years back because I couldn't stand the man love of Phil and Paul.
Anyway hopefully the rest will be as exciting as the first week.

And yes, almost forgot.
I hope Nibbles gets to stay, it must be fate. He is a very cute cat.
