Specialized Langster Steel

Any owners on here?

I had an alloy one and it was a great bike, I love the look of the steel version. Fully aware of all the negative connotations of such a bike, but I just think it's a handsome machine. Plus, it would 'only' cost me £300 through my Cycle2Work scheme :)

The Steel is a 'new' model, but I think the Alloy RRP was c£350 in 2007, but they went up to £449 in 2008.

There is an additional £50 premium on the Steel version for 2010

It looks nice, but I can't help thinking you could get something far, far nicer through the classifieds here for £300.

Genesis flyer gets good reviews, but is very heavy.... The langster steel is a thing of beauty!!!
I've just sold my bianchi pista and am regretting it :0(

Dunno about "very" heavy. I have a Flyer 2008 and it is "very" light... did they get heavier?

EDIT - I assume that's the new one above? Mine has a carbon fork and post, which probably helps. FWIW I would recommend my Flyer. I paid just over £200 s/h and it's a lovely bike. Looks like they might have dumbed down the later models though.

Halfords say they can source one in my size (61cm), so I've ordered a £500 voucher. The bonus part is that it's cheaper per month than I thought! :)

I'd wanna put gears on it....
