Only with steel bb, using copperslip/anti-seize on ti bb is standard practice, just not grease. You then tighten up using a torque wrench rather than by hand to avoid over tightening.

in my experience of middleburn cranks the spider tends to creak against the actual arm over time. strip it down, clean it & use threadlock on the spider lockring to stop it from working loose.
 
Creaking cranks

It's worth applying a small amount of grease to the inside face of the non drive side bottom bracket cup. Stops any creaks from the bottom bracket also
