Wanna know a secret.......they're not.
.

Yer no far rang there big yin!

Do you not think it's about ownership? This retrobike site thing has evolved/devolved (depnding on your perspective) and it's not like it was bitd- well 5 years ago anyway. When botm was exclusivly the preserve of excotic dream bikes and the hordes had yet to arrive with the inevitable lowering of standards. We hark back to bygone days as far as our bikes, why not for the retrobike forum of old too?

Feck - he's not still sittin' on that GSX in his sittin; room is he :D

Gasp.

Anyway - the Mustang  - way overpriced, way underdesirable, but hey - let it run............

I reckon BOTM bikes have got better and I thought this was the consenus of the rest of the site too? I've also had a look at the pre97 bikes section and tbh theres only a few that could be considered WDS. Maybe folks should step up and call a spade a spade a bit more often, rather than the love in we sometimes get or the herd mentallity*.

* I can see the irony in this since after pete did speak his mind everyone else chimed in(whilst standing behind him)

I suppose at the end of the day if it makes someone happy and gets ridden then it's OK. Some of the BOTM bikes look like they have never been anywhere near dirt or a road. Indeed some look like they have never ventured more than 20 feet from their storage place. Still whatever floats your boat.

The site is called retrobike, not retrorider so whatever works for people.

Don't accept the herd mentality K - the mustang's overpriced - but lots of old WDS is and people pay the premium for age.

Been in an antique shop recently? or antique auction? Big Pounds changing hands for Old Dross. C'est Lavvy.

Bought my first motorbike in 1978 - Yam 250 - Pure Crap at the time, worked for a while, not for long, now commands silly money
Workings of the economy are fickle - move on.

From Tazio:
The site is called retrobike, not retrorider so whatever works for people.
Interesting point - hadn't thought of that :P

I think the Mustang thread has lost it's point a little- too much focus on which bikes are worthy and all that.
Build what you like I say, if you like top drawer bikes, build them and show the fruits of your labour (and please RIDE IT TOO). if you like low end dross, build it and show the fruits of your labour.....

The refreshing part of that thread though was Petes attitude- Kaiser has touched on it above.... Calling a spade a spade, say what you see, tell it how it is... Right or wrong, he spoke his mind and that should be praised. We, like the rest of the world have become too PC, too polite, too 'English' of late.
RetroBike is friendly and so it should be, but sometimes something has to be said.
