Still kinda on topic but maybe a little tangent. .

The 2 bikes I got off my sister earlier in the year (the '93 Saracen and Ridgeback) were in darn'd fine condition, probably not covered more than a handful of miles each.. stored under cover pretty much since purchase.

She passed them to me, her parting words were along the lines of :
I don't really need a bike but I'm going to get one of the ones Tesco have just got in, they're really nice . .

She's not prone to buying crap.. all her Louis Vuitton is genuine (and there's a lot of it)..

Perhaps it's something in the water?

Surely there's no real suprise there?

1. People not particularly versed in a subject being swayed by something not necessarily that good.

2. Canny use of "features" by those designing / choosing BSOs for places like Tesco and Asda, appealling to their demographic.

Plus, old and dusty is no match, for some for new and shiny.
