Shill bidding???

Two mails from ebay this morning, the first thanking me for my complaint, the second 15 minutes later informing me there has been a bid retraction and I am now the high bidder! I guess he has had his other accounts delted now.
Thing is though I don't really want to win any more as I would have to meet him in person and having reported him to the authorities he maybe ever so slightly pissed at me.

Will ebay tell him why his account was deleted?

doesnt work like that. if you are caught shill bidding ebay cancel the listing straight away and make you do a tutorial to highlight the issues with doing it. you then cant sell at auction for 2 weeks, only buy now.

they dont give a warning either. report, investigate, pull the item

Strange then. Item is still active with me as highest bidder. But the 0 feedback bidder retracted the bids, I can only assume this is because ebay had deleted the account.
We'll have to see. I was prepared to pay reasonable money for it but not his BIN price, but the price being falsly inflated is wrong. On ebay you have to take the rough with the smooth, sometimes you do well other times you just don't. I know it's happened to me and my wife. I found the best way of ensuring you get what you want is to set the start price at the absolute minimum you want for the item, you may have to pay more to list it but at least you don't feel done if it sell for next to nothing.
