Selling Rant (disgruntled member content)

To expand on my previous post.

I know of a company that buy a product in for 5p yet sell that very same product on for £6, each and every time.
No one questions it, not even the customers that 'should know better'.

About the postage though, maybe add on half of what you paid but if you can sell them on for the exact amount you paid.
At least within retrobike.

I considered Retrobike to be a 'club' and its members to be friends

In the short while I've been here that's the impression I've formed, which is why I'm disappointed that a guys for sale thread gets spoiled with posts criticizing his ethics and his pricing.

I've been a member of many different forums over the years and I always understood that if you wasn't actually interested in buying an item in the classifieds you didn't pass negative comments on the item or how it's priced....

Just my 2p worth.

Is it mainly making a profit of things bought on here that people are taking offence too?

Sounds like it. Their are others who make a profit from sales. Not me

With some things it's impossible not to though. Take that giant i just bought would be impossible for me to not make anything on that bar giving it away (not likely). The parts are worth far more than what it stands me at and if I was to sell them in a no profit kinda way it would devalue other similar parts for sale on here. Sure we may sell bits on here at mates rates but we still keep them at roughly market value. Otherwise it would be like poundland in here.

But im not selling the bits i have taken off it :D There going in MY bike bits box.

Oh good Lord, have you (or anyone) read the original thread?

Nowhere, can I see anyone questioning Barneys pricing or ethics.

The wheels didn't sell within 24 hours so Barney got impatient and posted words to the effect of 'why aren't these selling?', I pointed out that many people on this site would probably not buy them because of the price difference. No judgement... no 'ooh, you're making a tenner' comments... nothing.

I did indeed.

I think the fact that they were for sale for just £85 a couple of weeks ago might be a minor stumbling block.

poorly matched rim / hub set, plus a radially laced old hope hub is a bad idea in terms of future cracks!

I think that covers the points I made about negative comments, ethics/pricing.

I sold a bike to an RB member
Will he eventually sell it on?-Yes
Do i care if he makes a few extra quid from splitting it?-No
