Does a carbon bike from 2009 even warrant a post on Retrobike? I believe it does, these are looking more retro now than I like to admit...
Bought on a whim as a complete bike from eBay because I've always wanted a frame with an integrated seatpost. The components on it were all shagged and it had evidently been raced given the tubular wheels and (bald) Tufo tyres. The only things I salvaged are the frame, fork and stem.
There were a lot of stickers covering various paint rubs on the frame, but fortunately none had gone through the cosmetic top layer or two of carbon. The frame polished up nicely with some Meguiars T-Cut type stuff.
I've built it up as a dinglespeed (42 - 18/20), with the barrel adjuster for the DA rear mech just about creating enough tension to switch between the two ratios.
Total weight is 7.8kg with much of that being the tyres (c. 700g each) and the porky alu bars. Everything else is about as light as you can go without going mad, including the very nice R-Sys rear wheel and Fulcrum front.
The only thing I'm not happy with is the Chinesium front chainring, but I couldn't find anything else to fit the Ultegra 6800 spider. Suggestions welcome on that. I appreciate the front end is logo-overload, but the bars and bartape were in my spares pile. And it's in keeping with the period
