Schumacher returns...this should be fun!

You've made me do! A bag! Not a pack! Of Opal Fruits!
I was at Doni this weekend for the GP (there is a link bare with me). Rossi binned it whilst in the lead (right in front of where i was watching). He had a bent handle bar and looked like his foot peg had snapped off! His talent stuck him back on and he finished 4th!

Didn't Rossi finish 5th thanks to Tosserland wanting to ride a Yamhara ha ha organ next year

And what do we think of BMW throwing in the towel at the end of the season??

Well, they gave themselves 3 years to win the championship when they entered, and as they are nowhere near they quit, don't blame them, they have ploughed it huge amounts of money and have had no return.

Glad they are going to continue with the GT2 sportscar project in the ALMS- they have made great progress and were almost on the pace at Lime Rock. Word has it that BMW are eying up a diesel powered LMP1 programe for Le Mans, which would be great

Me to! Haydens run @ Donnington apart from the obvious wrong tyre was awesome! After about 8 laps i think it was clear they'd f'd up! He was backing it into every corner i saw and had it all crossed up on the way out! Fun at te back?!
Grand Prix is a belter of a film for its time! the footage is awsome, think they used modded F3000 cars.

Grand Prix is a great film, Frankenheimers best work IMHO. the soundtrack is pretty good too- scored my Maurice Jarre (Jean Michels dad) just after he won an oscar for Dr Zivago.

The cars were various F3 chassis that were mocked up to resemble the F1 cars of the time by Jim Russell. If I remember rightly the majority were lola chassis. Most of the actors (Garner excepted) were shit drivers and were towed on a sled behind Chris Amon at high speed which terrified them.
Several contempory drivers were in the film including Graham Hill, Jo Bonnier, Mike Spence, Phil Hill and Richie Ginther. Several other drivers including Jimmy Clark, David Piper, Peter Revson, Jacky Stewart, John Surtees and Sir John Whitmore were included but cut from the film when they signed contracts to make McQueens rival film 'Day of the Champion'. McQueens film was scrapped at pre production but he continued his persuit to make 'The most realistic god damn racing movie ever' and 3 years later the filming of 'Le Mans' began at Le Sarthe with John Sturgess- but thats another story

I'll take off my anorak now

Si

My Dad worked with Amon in the 70's. had a front wing off the Ferrari from the film as a boy! Remember being told various stories about it! and Le Mans!
