Sacriledge! advice please

No case as such, I just prefer building and riding bikes as they would have been when they were built, I ride my older bikes with clips and straps and period correct tyres. I use clipless pedals and modern tyres on my modern bike (and by modern I mean 95).

i never ever rode with clips and straps bitd , dangerous things
however got my first spd's in about 93 (i think) early shimano xt's
still got them somewhare

BITD if enough folk thought something was a good idea they jumped on the bandwagon and upgraded. So SPD's, V-brakes, suspension are all seen on bikes that predated the technology. There is nothing wrong with it, only an elitist snob would have an issue and they're best ignored

Agree. My MF Alu didn't have spd's when i bought it from the shop and weren't available. Until 6 months later when i bought them. So fit enjoy

Can see both arguments, started with pedals and rat catchers bitd and progressed to spds later. I did go to great lenghts and cost to get some suntour xc beartraps for a 87 bike, as i wanted the period correct thang going on, but it is not a daily rider, if it was a bike for use then fit what you would use today, cant be seen anyway.

This is the frame (I am awaiting the delivery of a lot of parts).

I may just get a set of clips / straps and put them to one side for it.

p.s. Some of you gents have already assisted with this build :)

Isn't that just crying out for some 'Old Skool' BMX-style pedals??

it will be when I get the CD chainset and the stunt pegs welded on it :)
