Devout Dirtbag
Hello,
Just taken delivery of my new project.
Roy Thame 531c frame and forks with Campagnolo drop outs, 22 1/2 inch.
It is very light and similar weight to my Road Ace 12.
Rear brake cable through the frame, I hope I can get cable thru - welding wire maybe?
Frame number 692.
I am guessing 1985 - 1987, any one know when it would have been built.
Rear axle OLD is 126mm; 6-7 Speed maybe?

Then the decision of which components to use? Some input would be nice and try and keep it period.
I have not checked which threads it has - I am thinking English, I have a spare BB to put in to check.
If I go for Campag it will take a while to build, equally using Shimano Dura Ace it would take a while too.

Nob, if you see my other road bikes I am probably going to leave it 'as is'
I may do some touch up on the fork crown.
I think a white undercoat was a bad idea mm

thread some string in through the front hole and use a vacuum on the rear hole. If you can seal it up good the string will get sucked through. When it is through tie/tape/glue the inner cable to the string and pull it through the tube. Then run the inner into the outer and feed the outer through the tube and out if the front hole.

Rear OLD is 126mm; so doing some searching looks like its going to be 7speed freewheel or cassette.
Amazing the amount of info you need to take into account before building a bike up.
I will check all the threads and touch up the worst paint defects first.

Maybe a month or so before I get started with this one.

Excellent. I bought a Roy Thame 4 years ago. He built the Holdsworth team bikes.
My frame set turned out to be a special order tube set for Ciöcc cycles. When Ciöcc got sold on Giovanni Pelizzoli, the founder, passed on some of the tube sets to Roy Thame.
Research is half the fun of a build.
