Rocky mountain Blizzard '96 info required

Its so stock even the brakes are rigged up the wrong way round! Owner said that's how he got it so never bothered to change it

this is how i had mine built up. didn't have the luxury of getting all the stock parts on it, or being able to source them. but in the end i was very pleased with my alternative setup.

i had a lead on a completely stock one last week, but again it ended up being a 19.5".

By the way, cool frame! The '96 Blizzard with the red details is one of the best looking Blizzards IMHO.

Thanks Troje but I'd happily swap for your T.O :)

they're not the wrong way around here in North America! left is front shift/brake, right is rear shift/brake ;)

I think your thread was one of the major contributors to me lusting after one of these RM's :)

Is it not worth getting the 19.5" for the stock parts and off loading the frame ready for the 18.5 to come along :) Must be a lot more common to find vintage RM's in your neck of the woods than mine...

wow, thanks for the compliment. :D my inspiration on wanting one was Jupke's 96 Blizzard. His was the first I had seen.

the bike wasn't local. it was still in Canada but i'd have had to have it shipped to me. plus i still have most of the parts from my build set aside waiting for the right sized frame. ;)

if it was a local pickup then i would have probably bought it for the stock parts, though i don't know if i would have left it as is, as i really liked the way i had mine put together.

Give it a good ride as stock, ride it the retro way for a while.
Don't feel you have to make every bike the same.

Of course if you're not wanting that stem...

For the record though, Rocky had left threaded headsets by 1993 and moved completely over to ahead.

so does that mean we have a convert from Kona to RM now?

I'll let you know when I can get the damned seat post out the frame! There's only about 5" of it sticking out so there's a lot of it to free up.. I keep giving it the Plusgas treatment but I reckon this one is going to have to be cut out.
