So don't assume 26.8 just because the catalogue says so =)
It's not just that: my Blizzard actually takes a 26.8. While awaiting the arrival of a 26.8, I inserted a 27.0 (both Syncros posts), but from the feel of it, the 26.8 is the better fit :)

IMO the biggest one that slides in with no force is a good fit. If a 27.0 is relatively easy to get in then go with that. I think the blizzard will vary from frame to frame. I also have a 96' equipe which has the exact exact exact same frame as the blizzard. 26.8 goes in quite easily. I tried a 27.0... If I really jammed it in there it might might might go in... For the equipe I went with a 26.8... The blizzard was an easy slide in for 27.0 so that's what I went with,

Picked it up today from the original owner :)
Its totally stock accept the rear tyre! Like I said it needs tlc as it looks like its seen a fair share of wet rides. All the steel bolts are rusted and the original seat post clamp is busted. I've given every bolt a really good soaking in Plusgas ditto the seat post.

Best of all though the frame, paint and decals are good and its an 18.5 8)

Will do pics soon.

i'll chime in. as the 19.5" shutter has was mine, i found it one size too big, and prob would be comfortable (and looking for) an 18.5". 17.5" might fit me, but could also be on the small size. so if yours is indeed a 17.5", it might be cramp for you.

i'm 5'8" with 30" pants inseam.

Thanks for the comments.

Turns out its an 18.5 8)

Briefly rode it round a car park today, fits well despite seat post stuffed quite far down the seat tube and the very long Raceface stem is probably going into storage and a shorter stem added.

Surprised the stem/ fork is the quill style rather than ahead. Really prefer running aheadset due to the more readily available short stems but don't want to lose the RF ano headset :?

By the way, cool frame! The '96 Blizzard with the red details is one of the best looking Blizzards IMHO.

Looks original to me with the black Judy XC forks :? Maybe I need to get another good look at it during the day but I couldn't see any clamp on bolts. Happy to be proved wrong though :)

it's not a quill stem per-say. it's a ahead/threadless stem that doesn't require the installation of the star nut in the fork steerer. the RF red ano headset is threadless.

i have a ti version on my Merlin:

here are the details on how the stem work:

That's pretty amazing info, I never knew this type of stem existed, you really do learn something new everyday. Really pleased as the RF headset is awesome :)

Trouble I'm going to have with this bike is there's lots I'd like to do to it to make it more familiar to me like shorter stem , riser bars, v brakes etc but its so original it seems sacrilege!

The forks definitely need attention as well but again I have a Marz superfly ready to go.

Whatever I do I'll keep the original kit boxed up just in case I want to return it to stock.

Anybody have a red ano 30.0 RM seat clamp going spare? :)
