Roberts XK2

thanks so much for taking the time to post the instructions, very useful! So that's what i should have done....

i just sort of figured it out so that it seemed to work.

everything is in the right order, just lacked the detail in step 2 to get the "perfect" set up

will have a look at it, but seems to function okay

cant see much advantage over a roller really but interesting nevertheless

Happy to help.

I have one of these stems on my DB and the brakes certainly work quite well. Best cantis I can remember having. Whether that is down to other set-up factors or the cam on the stem I can't quite say as I have not ridden cantis since I got my first set of V-brakes in '97. :D

sorry about the tyres by the way. the nimbus went pop on the front yesterday, who would have thunk for a 20 year old skin wall tyre.

if anyone knows of any nice 1.5 skinwall/amber wall mtb tyres out there, please let me know! the gatorskins on there just now make me feel ill!

She’s still going! I bought this from eBay years back with the intention of using the wheels on my team issue… well, that didn’t happen. The Marin is still hanging up because I ride this all the time. I’m so pleased to find this thread and glad it’s been such an appreciated bike. Still turns heads. I read an article saying that Chas built a few frames with narrow clearance specifically for the courier market. Seems odd - there was a name for them too but I cannot find it now. Anyway, these ma40’s are way too wide so at some stage I will revert to something like the original campags you mentioned. Would love to know more about the xk2..
